Previously, Alabama state laws against corporate power were used to attack the civil rights organization the NAACP in the 1950's. I want to allow non-profits, such as civil rights type organizations to function. People do have assembly, or associative rights to project their voice, and lobby. How do you separate out, and protect the voices of the underdog while combating the abuses taking place today?

As well intentioned as the proposal with some good features it potentially guts the right of assembly (and "association" that is derived from it). That would jeopardize, for example, the inherent right of the NAACP to represent African-Americans within the social and political arena. The same would be true for the NRA, Christian Coalition, Citizens United, Public Citizen. All of these organizations get people to join voluntarily to gain the power to campaign for their interests. They are all "artificial entities" aka created by voluntarily assembled humans to represent them. Now you propose to have them licensed by the state? Labor unions: they must exist in certain organizations to address workers rights. Therefore, let's stick to the issue as you and others have stated it: "It's rampant business-corporate power corrupting the political system" that must be addressed without destroying assembly rights, and even the ability of business to function in a balanced way.

She makes an important point. I live in high flying LA where many of my friends treated their homes like ATMs and kept borrowing on equity and continued spending money like drunken sailors on a Saturday night. Even with their jobs they have no money since they are servicing high debt payments. Even people with jobs have no money.

The government had already ended our constitutional rights with media approval. You can read that with a search for "New police weapon against homeless" on homeless forums and "Historic coverup of FBI and police crimes currently taking place" on Urban 75 message board. Bill Anderson

My incompetence is your gain, Darcy. I was SURE that I remembered changing parties on voting day in some primary here long ago, but when I attempted to this evening I was told that I could not. Boy, was I glad that I had encountered you a few days ago - otherwise I would have had to write in someone like Howard Dean (and that vote might well not have been counted).

I'm not sure how I would have felt voting for Paul, important though I believe his candidacy is. I do know that voting for you felt good (for Eugene Debs' classic reason).

I told my wife about you (I'm sure she would not have considered Paul at all), and she seemed to react positively (commenting that stances like yours should be encouraged). Hope you do well here tonight.

"...this was merely an oversight by President Obama..."

Obama is use to practicing oversights....look at his appearent oversight of the
constitutional requirement to be a "natural born citizen" (which seems to mean
that the president was born of two US citizens)...( this is the same test he and
a Senate body applied to McCain...etc.
