Apparently Tucker Carlson’s Daily Caller, the conservative/libertarian-leaning online publication launched in 2010 as the right’s answer the The Huffington Post, is now rumored to be considering the introduction of a thrice-weekly print edition.
“I’m not going to comment on that at all,” Carlson told rival POLITICO when asked about the subject. “People are very gossipy.”
While newspapers around the country are folding their print operations and shrinking staff, traffic to the Daily Caller’s website has grown steadily. Taking the unexpected step of adding a print edition, likely to be distributed primarily in Washington, would elevate the Caller‘s stature among insiders. But it’s still hard to imagine that the marketplace is really crying out for another printed newspaper.
POLITICO suggests the paper would likely roll-out in early 2013, joining already overcrowded Washington D.C. newsstands.
